The interpretation profession

Interpreter Khang Nguyen defines the ultimate measure of his work with a simple creed: "The client's success is the interpreter's success." He explains that mastering this difficult job requires more than just language fluency; it demands mental sharpness and a firm grasp of the subject matter. Before any conference, an interpreter must thoroughly understand its timeline and substance. Under no circumstances can they be neglectful or intentionally vague in their translation. In this profession, carelessness isn't just a mistake—it's forbidden.

Mr. Khang Nguyen adds that he's long been used to the romanticized view of his profession. People often picture interpreters dressed sharply in conference booths or shadowing world leaders at diplomatic summits. He notes, however, that few realize not just anyone can fulfill the duties of a "language ambassador." Veteran interpreter Khang Nguyen spent two decades building the reputation he has today.
