Announcement Ceremony of Bien Hoa Airbase dioxin remediation project

2021/06/16

This is an article on following interpreting topics:

  • International Cooperation

  • Post-war Recovery

The Announcement ceremony of Bien Hoa Airbase dioxin remediation has marked another important milestone of the project jointly carried out by the National Steering Committee on Overcoming the Post-war Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) and Toxic Chemical Consequences, or the Steering Committee 701 in short, and the US Agency for International Development (USAID). On this special note, participants also witnessed the launch of USAID's disabilities programs and the Letter of Intent signing ceremony of cooperative communication on post-war UXO and toxic chemical settlement in Vietnam.

This event welcomed plenty of a wide range of leading figures from both Vietnam and the USA, namely Lieutenant General Nguyễn Chí Thượng, Head of Steering Committee 701, H.E. Mr. Daniel J. Kritenbrink, U.S Ambassador to Vietnam, Madam Marie C.Damuor, U.S Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City along with delegates, distinguished guests, representatives from Ministries, Departments and news agencies.

Given the significance of this international cooperation with the attendance of senior leaderships, the translator needs the nerves of steel to produce an accurate and faithful translation in a diplomatic way, not to mention the correct usage of UXO terminology. Moreover, the ability to quickly grasp information and improvise also plays an important role in capturing those spur-of-them-moment speeches. Therefore, Phien Dich Vien by AKT, with thorough preparation and translating experience in thousands of events, was so honored to contribute to the ceremony’s success as the communication bridge.

This event was held to commemorate the completion of Phase 1 and to highlight MND, ADAFC, and USAID's dioxin remediation efforts at Bien Hoa Airbase. The land will be handed over to USAID in the next phase for the contaminated soil cleanup process. In addition, there were two signing ceremonies to establish extensive cooperation on supporting the disabilities in provinces that were heavily sprayed with Agent Orange, in an attempt to alleviate the post-war consequences of toxic chemicals/dioxin in Vietnam.

Once again, AKT’s top translators have managed to achieve customer satisfaction and contentment, amounting to a long-listed and high-profile portfolio of our team. Thank you for trusting us and look forward to seeing you at the upcoming events.
