Conference Interpretation Booth: International Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Conference - AI In Healthcare Conference 2025
On the morning of May 23, 2025, after the overnight shower, over 300 "white coat warriors" and "technology knights" gathered at Children's Hospital No. 1. Not for medical checkups, mind you, but to attend the International AI in Healthcare Conference 2025 - an event dubbed the "wedding of the century" between artificial intelligence and medicine.
The Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association (HCA), with 37 years of experience in the technology landscape, joined hands with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to organize this event. The AKT interpretation team was ready and waiting in our small "fortress." We tested headphones, calibrated transceivers, and checked the English-Vietnamese audio channels, ensuring every tone and specialized terminology would be accurately received. From the Latin root of the word cabin (cabīna, meaning "small chamber"), the interpretation industry has transformed it into a symbol of professional translation services.
The conference aimed to bridge the vision of developing "Smart Healthcare" with the practical reality of electronic medical record (EMR) management and building pre-hospital emergency dispatch platforms. Clinical doctors, cybersecurity experts, and WHO representatives took turns sharing insights on deep learning in diagnostic support, medical big data, and the critical importance of healthcare information security protocols.
Who Were the VIPs at the AI IN HEALTH CONFERENCE 2025 Healthcare Technology Event?
Dr. Angela Pratt from WHO flew halfway around the globe to share insights on AI in healthcare. She likened AI to a double-edged sword - it can save lives, but it can also... cost you your job if you're not careful!
From the land of fog and mist, Dr. Chris Bates from TPP brought stories about electronic medical records (EMR). In his EMR segment, expert Bates shared how interoperability mechanisms help 45% of clinical doctors save 30% of their time on record searches.
Mr. Lai-Shiun Lai (Taichung Veterans G.H., Taiwan) introduced how AI optimizes emergency dispatch services - AI emergency coordination - sounds like science fiction but is actually happening in his hospital, demonstrating auto-triage processes that reduce ambulance waiting times by 20%.
On the host side, Associate Professor Dr. Tăng Chí Thượng from Ho Chi Minh City's medical flagship, and Mr. Lâm Nguyễn Hải Long - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association, emphasized the importance of smart healthcare.
If AI Can "Diagnose" Diseases Like a Divine Healer, What Will Become of Doctors' Roles?
The hottest question at the conference: Will AI replace doctors? Think of AI as a super-intelligent intern - it remembers millions of cases like a steel trap, but still needs the doctor "boss" to make the final call. In Vietnam, AI already helps read lung X-rays faster than The Flash, creates personalized cancer treatment plans like bespoke tailoring. Surgical robots are as skillful as master embroiderers, but still need the golden hands of doctors to guide them.
How to Ensure AI is "Ethical" When Processing Sensitive Medical Data?
Mr. Phạm Mạnh Hùng (Cybersecurity Expert, GTEL) led the journey from government decrees to the roadmap for building healthcare information security levels. The discussion session moderated by Mr. Phó Đức Giang (PwC Vietnam) attracted delegates from hospitals, district health centers, and technology companies to explore the concept of metadata governance for protecting privacy and tracing medical data origins.
Dr. Angela Pratt warned about the "digital divide." She told stories from the Philippines, where doctors carry AI X-ray machines up high mountains! Thanks to this, many tuberculosis cases are detected early, and patients don't fall through the cracks.
What Does "Algorithmic Bias" Mean in the Context of Digital Healthcare?
- The three hottest terms at the conference that made interpreters rack their brains were:
- "Algorithmic bias" - biased algorithms - sounds sophisticated but it's actually like teaching a child to eat only pho while forgetting about bread, so later they think the whole world only has pho! AI is the same way - if it only learns from one group's data, it will "discriminate" against others.
- "Interoperability" - the ability to interact - like wanting your iPhone to talk to Android. In healthcare, systems must "make friends" with each other to share patient information.
- "Digital health literacy" - people's digital health proficiency - simply put, it's the ability to "Google diseases" without scaring yourself into thinking you have a terminal illness just from coughing a few times!
What Role Do Conference Interpretation Booths Play in Connecting Global Medical Knowledge?
300 delegates, multiple languages, countless technical terms - booth interpreters are like "Spider-Man" having to swing through every sentence! We must know foreign languages and also understand AI, medicine, technology, and law!
Interpreters must be as precise as computers yet as flexible as ninjas, ensuring no one gets lost in the forest of terminology. The dual-channel system allows listeners to choose EV (English-Vietnamese) or VE (Vietnamese-English) channels as needed.
What Future Awaits Healthcare as AI Becomes Increasingly Intelligent?
Seven AI healthcare technology booths, six specialized sessions, and two in-depth discussion panels attracted nearly 20 industry leaders. The VIP tour featured eight exhibiting units, from WATA Software to Healthcare Center, demonstrating the explosive growth of the healthcare technology ecosystem.
The conference concluded with a promising future vision: AI and doctors will be the perfect pair like rice and soup, pho and lime! WHO issued six "commandments" for healthcare AI: transparency, risk awareness, equality for all, humans remain the "boss," systems must "play nice" with each other, and all sectors must "shake hands" in cooperation.
AKT Translation was delighted to actively participate in the specialized healthcare and technology symposium AI in Healthcare Conference 2025, which was not just a dry scientific conference but a meeting place for passionate individuals, bold ideas, and dreams of a healthcare system without barriers.
