AKT Translation ran the Vietnamese–English booth at the inauguration of the BM Windows Chau Duc factory, alongside a Vietnamese–Chinese booth. Nearly 300 guests attended, representing 150 clients and partners from 18 countries. This article explains how booth interpreting follows the MC script, and why a short briefing matters.

Two interpreting booths stood side by side in the hall at the inauguration of the BM Windows Chau Duc factory: one for Vietnamese–English, one for Vietnamese–Chinese. Two booths for one ceremony says a lot about the room: nearly 300 guests, representing 150 clients and partners from 18 countries, alongside the Vietnam Association of Construction Contractors and leaders of ecosystem companies including Ricons, Newtecons, SOL E&C, D&B and Dcons. The façade factory is planned on more than 100,000 m².
AKT Translation ran the Vietnamese–English booth. The ceremony followed the MC script section by section: the opening performance, guest introductions, the factory presentation, a video, the Founding Chairman's address, then the ribbon-cutting with a 3-2-1 countdown. Some parts of the script were bilingual and some were in Vietnamese only, so the booth needed to know in advance which parts international guests had to hear through their headsets and which they had already heard from the MC. After the ceremony, guests toured the factory before returning for lunch.

What we most want to share happened before the event. The organisers proactively invited our team to an online briefing and, in 15–20 minutes, covered everything that mattered. AKT Translation is always ready to work with clients ahead of an event, and a briefing does not need to be long, only focused. Thank you to the organisers for preparing so thoroughly.
Two booths, one script, a twenty-minute briefing: an inauguration with guests from 18 countries succeeds on preparation done at the right time.
Following the MC Script: How Interpreting Works at an Inauguration Ceremony
Unlike a conference, an inauguration ceremony has almost no slack. Performances, MC lines, speeches and rituals follow one another minute by minute, so simultaneous interpreting for inauguration ceremonies has to follow the running order, not just the speaker.
The heaviest content is usually the factory presentation. At BM Windows Chau Duc it was full of construction vocabulary: façade, curtain wall, 4-axis and 5-axis CNC machining, ERP systems and LEED Gold green building certification. This is the kind of construction and façade interpreting that has to be prepared in advance, because nobody stops on stage to explain a term.
A short briefing works when it answers four questions: what the running order is and which MC parts are bilingual; which guests go on stage, with their titles and how their names are pronounced; whether the presentation and video have spoken content; and exactly when the ribbon-cutting happens. With those four answers, the booth knows when to speak and when to let the moment of the ceremony speak for itself.
If you are preparing an inauguration with international guests, AKT Translation can review the MC script with your team from the first draft.
Bilingual MC, On-Stage Interpreter or Booth: Choosing the Format
Bilingual MC (MC song ngữ): the host delivers the scripted links in both languages. It suits the ceremonial parts but cannot replace interpreting when speakers go off script. See our bilingual MC section.
On-stage interpreter (phiên dịch sân khấu): the interpreter stands beside the speaker and interprets consecutively, paragraph by paragraph. It works for short ceremonies with one foreign language, but almost doubles the length of each speech. More on this: The importance of an English-speaking MC or on-stage interpreter in the groundbreaking ceremony.
Booth (simultaneous) interpreting (phiên dịch cabin): guests listen through headsets and the programme keeps its rhythm. When guests come from many countries, each language pair needs its own booth and its own headset channel, as with the Vietnamese–English and Vietnamese–Chinese booths at BM Windows Chau Duc. This multilingual booth interpreting is the best fit for large, international audiences.
For Event Organisers Planning Inaugurations with International Guests
Factory inaugurations and groundbreakings in Vietnam often bring clients and partners in from abroad, and the ceremony is frequently delivered by an event organiser, professional conference organiser (PCO) or destination management company (DMC) on behalf of the owner. For organisers in Singapore and across the region, a local interpreting partner that already knows how these ceremonies run removes one uncertainty from the plan. AKT Translation works from the MC script, joins your online briefing, and coordinates booths and headset channels for each language, so international guests and MICE groups follow the ceremony, the factory tour and the lunch speeches without a gap.

Factory Inauguration Interpreting FAQs
1. Should an inauguration ceremony use booth interpreting or an on-stage interpreter?
An on-stage interpreter suits a short ceremony with one foreign language and few speeches. When the programme is longer, includes technical presentations or has guests of several nationalities, booth interpreting keeps the ceremony on time, because guests hear the interpretation through headsets as the speaker talks.
2. How many interpreting booths does an event with several nationalities need?
Each language pair needs its own booth and headset channel, so Vietnamese–English and Vietnamese–Chinese means two booths. Each booth usually has two interpreters taking turns to hold quality through the programme. Organisers should share the expected number of guests per language early.
3. How much does interpreting for a factory inauguration in Vietnam cost?
Cost depends on the mode (booth, on-stage or bilingual MC), the number of language pairs, programme length, subject matter and equipment such as booths and multi-channel headsets. A factory tour or speeches at lunch also count. Organisers can send the draft run of show to AKT Translation for a tailored quote.
4. What should we send interpreters before an inauguration ceremony?
Send the MC script, the guest list with titles, speeches, presentation slides and any video with spoken content. If materials are still changing, a short online briefing before the event lets the interpreters lock in the running order and the parts that need interpreting.
