Investment promotion interpreting covers conferences where authorities present projects to foreign investors and hear their views. At the investor consultation on the Strategic Technology Development Center, hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee at its headquarters with NVIDIA, Intel, TSMC, AmCham and SingCham attending, two AKT Translation interpreters provided two-way English–Vietnamese booth interpreting.

Fifteen Minutes a Shift Inside the People's Committee Hall
An investor consultation conference is a room where a city sits down to listen to the people who will put their capital behind its plans. At this one, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee gathered technology companies including NVIDIA, Intel and TSMC, together with AmCham and SingCham, to hear their views on the Strategic Technology Development Center, a flagship project of the city. Their feedback shapes how the Center's investment promotion plan is refined, which means both sides have to hear each other exactly.
That is the job of the booth. My colleague Nhan and I rotated every 15 minutes, because simultaneous interpreting at this level is not something one person can sustain to the end of the session. Voice tires, concentration drops before terminology does, and the client is the first to hear it.

The booth stood inside the main hall of the People's Committee headquarters. Interpreting at the People's Committee headquarters is a seat you only fully understand once you have sat in it, and all four core members of AKT Translation, Khang, Thinh, Suong and Nhan, have worked there many times.

Investment promotion interpreting at this level takes two interpreters taking turns, not one pushing through.
How do you plan interpreter cover for a long investor conference?

How the Investor Consultation Ran, and Where Interpreting Gets Hard
According to the conference programme, the session had six parts: opening remarks by the leadership of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; a film and a presentation on the Center's development direction by the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) Management Board; thematic talks from the Department of Science and Technology, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City and VinaCapital; an open discussion chaired by the City's leadership; and closing remarks. The Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) also attended. According to the introduction delivered at the conference, Ho Chi Minh City contributes nearly 25% of Vietnam's GDP, and the Center is planned on a "green, clean and digital" model.
The difficulty of investment promotion interpreting is two registers stacked together: the formal language of city government, where every agency name and title must be exact, and technology vocabulary such as data centres, cloud computing and semiconductors. If your conference mixes the same two registers, AKT Translation can support you from the preparation stage.
Consultation, Forum or Delegation: Choosing the Right Interpreting Format
Consultation conference interpreting (phiên dịch hội nghị tham vấn): the authority presents its plans, then opens the floor for investor feedback. The discussion is unscripted and switches language constantly, so it usually needs two-way English–Vietnamese simultaneous interpreting.
Forum interpreting (phiên dịch diễn đàn): many speakers, several sessions or panels, a large audience, sometimes parallel rooms. The priority is keeping the programme on time and placing enough booths for every room.
Delegation interpreting (phiên dịch đoàn công tác): when a business or government delegation visits Vietnam, the interpreter travels with it through the day, from a reception at the People's Committee to meetings with city departments and visits to hi-tech parks or factories. It is mostly consecutive, sometimes whispered on the move, so the interpreter needs the itinerary and delegation list in advance.
For Event Organisers Handling Government and Investor Programmes in Vietnam
Investor conferences, business missions and corporate delegations meeting city authorities are often arranged by an event organiser, professional conference organiser (PCO) or destination management company (DMC) on behalf of their client. For organisers in Singapore and across the region, a local partner that already knows the protocol of government venues removes one uncertainty. AKT Translation provides English–Vietnamese simultaneous and consecutive teams in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and the provinces, on-site, online or hybrid, with a briefing alongside your team before the event, so delegations and MICE groups keep one consistent voice from the courtesy call to the closing remarks.
Interpreting for Ho Chi Minh City Government Meetings
Before this conference, AKT Translation had interpreted a number of working sessions between foreign delegations and Ho Chi Minh City's leadership, including the delegation of the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade, a South Australian delegation and a Northern Territory Government delegation from Australia. Each room is different, but the rule stays the same: names, titles and protocol are settled before the first sentence is spoken.
Investment Promotion Interpreting FAQs
1. What is investment promotion interpreting?
It is interpreting for conferences, delegations and working sessions where authorities or companies present projects to foreign investors, including MICE groups on business missions. The main sessions usually run with booth (simultaneous) interpreting, while short meetings and site visits use consecutive interpreting.
2. How many booth interpreters does an investor conference need?
At least two interpreters per language pair, taking turns, as the story above shows. Longer conferences, several language pairs or sideline press interviews call for a larger team, together with booth equipment.
3. How much does interpreting for an investor conference in Vietnam cost?
Cost depends on duration, the number of language pairs and interpreters, subject complexity and booth equipment. Organisers planning on behalf of a client can send the agenda and timings to AKT Translation for a tailored quote.
4. How do event organisers book interpreters for government meetings in Vietnam?
Share the agenda, run of show, delegate list with exact titles, speeches and slides with a local interpreting company, which proposes the mode, team size and equipment. Official English names of the agencies attending help the team keep titles consistent from the first minute.
