AKT EN VI interpreters participated in the teleconference “Water and Agrifood – An integrated approach for the Mekong Delta” held on December 3rd, 2020 in HCM City.
It was an honor for us to provide interpretation for this webinar. This webinar covered a complex interdisciplinary topic that necessitated the interpreter's knowledge and experience in order to be successful.
Vietnam's agricultural sector faced numerous challenges in 2020, including the impact of COVID-19 and harsh weather. However, there are some encouraging signs. The demand for Mekong Delta agricultural products is expected to skyrocket, and the agricultural sector will quickly find ways to deal with the post-pandemic disaster.
This webinar began by discussing how the upper delta's flood-based farming system maintains its water retention and flood-balancing capacities, before moving on to the overall delta's challenge of reserving enough water for drinking and agricultural production during the dry season. Finally, how farmers in coastal areas can deal with increased surface and groundwater salinization was discussed.
