Interpreting for IFC Conference On Roadmap to Net Zero

The IFC workshop was buzzing with energy right from the start! The agenda kicked off with a welcome from Consul General Susan Burns of the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, followed by Pham Minh Hung (Deputy Director of the Department of Industrial Economy & Service Economy, Ministry of Planning & Investment) discussing “Sustainable Industrial Development & Green Industrial Zone Development in Vietnam.”

Subsequently, welcome remarks were given by Darryl Dong (Head of Ho Chi Minh City Office, International Finance Corporation). Harry Hughes (Vice President of Strategic Board, Saigon Tel) then set the stage with his presentation on “Developing Eco-Industrial Parks: Efforts and Challenges.”

Panel 1, moderated by Mai Nguyen (Resilience Consultant, IFC), delved into climate resilience infrastructure planning, with “Strengthening Built Environment Resilience,” while Yi Chun Huang (Gensler) showcased “Designing for Net-Zero: Carbon, Ecology, Experiences.” Romil Sheth (Sasaki) offered a presentation on “Transformative Environments – Resiliency, Diversity & Place Making in Contemporary Cities,” and Hiep Khuong (Moffatt & Nichol) explained “How Does Resiliency Planning Play a Foundational Role in Planning & Developing Strategic Eco-Industrial Parks?”

After a coffee break, Pham Do Hong Minh described “PV Gas & SaigonTel: A Collaborative Approach to Clean Energy Transition in Industrial Parks.” Ananth Chikkatur introduced the V-LEEP II initiative with “Supporting Vietnam’s Green Energy Transition;” Le Dong Hai (GE Vernova) presented “Technologies Powering Clean Energy Transition for Industry;” Tran Nguyen Hung (Pacifico Energy) discussed “The Rise of the Industrial Revolution Microgrid;” Vincenzo Tione (Asia Pacific, Honeywell) spoke on “Renewables and Energy Storage Solutions for Vietnam;” and Tuan Ho-Van (ASEAN and ANZ, UL) explained “Accelerating Vietnam's Green Energy Future with BESS.”

Panel 3, moderated by Shannon Roe (U.S. Commercial Service), focused on carbon management – technologies, solutions, and best practices. Mai Duc Long (Department of Natural Resources and Environment) presented “Hai Phong City's Action Plan in Preparation for Net Zero Target by 2050.” Ananth Chikkatur returned to give an “Overview of Carbon Management in Vietnam’s Energy Sector,” followed by Dr. Shahrul Azman Zainal Abidin explaining the “Honeywell End-to-End Emissions Management Solution.” Lastly, Anna Stablum (ClimeCo) presented “How to Leverage Voluntary Carbon Markets in a Company's Journey to Net-Zero.”

The conference then moved into sessions on climate finance and sustainable financing, with Do Ngoc Diep (Vietnam Green and Resilient Building Program Lead, IFC) discussing “Climate Finance Opportunities & Technical Supporting Tools” and Nguyen Duc Chinh (Director of FDI Center – MB Bank) presenting “Pioneering Sustainable Financing in Vietnam.”
