Interpreting at the science talk on “Water pollution in industrial parks and recommended solutions”

Institute for Research on Development Communication (RED) – a member of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) cooperated with the Netherlands Consulate General to hold the science talk at Van Lang University, HCMC. In addition to organizations’ representatives and 15 specialized journalists, the event was also attended by two lecturers from the Wageningen University and Research Center via an online platform.
Water resources in Vietnam mostly originate outside the country, making them unstable and prone to pollution as well as saline intrusion. This, plus ineffective water management, brings about adverse economic consequences. According to reports of the World Bank, UNICEF, and ADB, the demand for water treatment utilities are increasingly high.
Furthermore, as Vietnam’s Law on Water resources is under adjustment in the next 2 years, the science talk presents a good opportunity for researchers and journalists to discuss the aforementioned matters, with a view to contributing to the improvement of the national legal framework.
