The 3rd Vietnam Onshore and Offshore Wind Summit, held at VinPearl Luxury Landmark 81 between 20th and 21st of October, 2020, kicked off with a good start, gathering the numerous leaderships of the Ministry, Department, representatives of associations, organization, domestic and foreign experts and plenty of investors in the fields of renewable energy, project development, banking, etc. As always, the AKT interpreting team was honoured to continue contributing to this event success.
With the current energy mix heavily dependent on coal-fired power, the promotion of renewable energy sources, especially solar and wind energy, remains to be the focus target in the Power Development Plan VII (PDP VII) draft. According to EVN, despite hundreds of proposed solar and wind projects, or even under-construction ones, congested capacity and steaming FIT race are still critical bottlenecks that seem to be unsolvable.
During 2 days of the conference, there are many solutions and initiatives raised by reporters aiming to untangle these problems in various approaches such as financing access, bankability improvement, technical support, etc. In particular, the presentation on new possible auction mechanisms after the FIT regime expires attracts lots of interest from investors, especially those planning to enter this market.
The 3rd Vietnam Onshore and Offshore Wind Summit ends with great success, not only summarizing the picture of Vietnam’s renewable energy in 2020 and orientation development in 2021, but also leaving participants with countless lessons learned and experience relating to project development.
