Interpretation services at the workshop and seminar on "The Beauty of Vietnamese Áo Dài - Preservation and Development"
As part of the 9th annual Áo Dài Festival Ho Chi Minh City 2023, a workshop on traditional silk dyeing techniques, natural fabric dyeing, and the cultural values of the five-panel Áo Dài by famous designers - took place in Ho Chi Minh City right after the opening night. Our top interpreter, Mr. Khang Nguyen, was responsible for live stage interpretation for the workshop.
At the same time, the seminar on "The Beauty of Vietnamese Áo Dài - Preservation and Development" was also held with the aim of honoring the beauty of the Vietnamese Áo Dài, as well as discussing how to preserve and develop this cultural beauty. The seminar was attended by leaders from the Departments of Tourism, Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam Women's Union, Consuls General and their spouses, designers, and leaders of Áo Dài clubs.
The seminar focused on how to preserve the traditional beauty of the Vietnamese Áo Dài (which is in practice different from designers’ Áo Dài), attract young people (especially fashion students at universities) and provide them with opportunities to participate in the preservation and development of the Áo Dài, as well as organize appealing campaigns to encourage people in the country and tourists to wear Áo Dài regularly in daily life.
The program also included a showcase of outstanding Áo Dài costumes, such as:
- The collection entitled "Non Nuoc Vietnam" (The country of Vietnam) with patterns of famous landmarks in Ho Chi Minh City being hand-painted on Bao Loc silk.
- The "Huong Sac Thoi Gian 4" (Flavors and beauty of Time) collection featuring five-panel Áo Dài and stories of ancient students who went back to their hometown to thank their family and ancestors after remarkable achievements on important exams.
- The "Nếp màu tự nhiên" (Natural Color Shades) Áo Dài collection featuring four-panel and five-panel Áo Dài, especially the áo tấc (wide-sleeved five-panel Áo Dài), áo mãng lan (ancient Áo Dài for princes in the old dynasties), áo nhật bình (ancient Áo Dài for princess and concubines) và áo phượng bào (phoenix robe).
