From 28 to 30 October 2019, Vietnam Onshore and Offshore Wind Summit 2019 took place in Ho Chi Minh City, bringing together 250 CEOs and government officials from different countries with 30 industry speakers.

Over the years, Vietnam's energy demand keeps rising rapidly. To meet this demand, Vietnam must increase the share of renewable energy sources such as biomass, solar and wind to 10% by 2030.

Vietnam has great potential to develop renewable energy , especially wind energy, as Vietnam is considered Southeast Asia 's best wind resource. Vietnam 's new feed-in tariff has seen development projects rush. However, a number of major hurdles still need to be addressed to develop more attractive PPAs and clarify Vietnam's access to finance.

The three-day summit covered a range of topics including Vietnam 's wind infrastructure landscape, key financial strategies, practical financing options, regulatory framework, and the government's role in sustainability-oriented wind industry. Together, delegates agreed on what to do to make the renewables-led path less jagged.
