The story of interpreting for ELSA from the very beginning
Most people are familiar with Elsa - one pioneer that has enabled many to learn English through digital platforms. Did you know that the AKT interpreters were present in those early days to introduce Elsa's image, working methods, perspectives, approaches, and methodology to the community?
During those initial sessions, Khang Nguyen was the interpreter for Elsa at press conferences and important signing ceremonies. When an interpreter stands on stage alongside the MCs, the joy for both parties comes when the client's event succeeds and they praise everyone involved, naturally including the AKT interpreter.
Whose praise motivates us the most? It's from our colleagues. Therefore, when receiving direct compliments during face-to-face meetings and indirect praise through social media, we feel that the trust and appreciation for our work effectiveness is a great source of joy. Think about it - if your work receives genuine praise from colleagues, isn't that a motivation that makes you try harder?

It's this feeling of excitement that I get every once in a while that makes me fall in love with my job all over again and inspires me to keep getting better. I hope Elsa grows quickly and reaches the world!!!!
P.S. I was so impressed by Mr. Khang Nguyen's translation speed, his pace of delivery, and the sheer volume of "big data" he has. Truly outstanding
We had the special opportunity to work with Ms. Heather Hansen, a renowned expert in culture, language, and cross-cultural communication.
In a successful session where we collaborated on a forum to convey content about culture, language, and English pronunciation, she argued that there is no superior accent over another. Instead, what we should aim for is accurate, clear, and easily understandable pronunciation. According to her, no matter how we pronounce words, if they are unclear, or if we try to speak impressively but sound hollow, it won't be effective.
She affirmed that pronunciation is merely a means to an end. We have Singaporean accents, Indian accents, European accents, or those from many other regions around the world. They perform exceptionally well in international settings despite not speaking like native English speakers.
She is a person easy to work with, as evidenced by her thoughtful act of sending Lunar New Year cards to both my spouse and me. It's my good fortune to frequently encounter such interesting individuals, as I deeply value the appreciation shown by my friends, colleagues, and clients.

Heather Hansen.: "Dear Khang (and Katie!) 2020 Wishing you a Happy and Prosperous New Year. It was such a pleasure meeting you and your wife at the ELSA event in November. Thank you so much for your great work! I hope you have a wonderful lunar new year! Best wishes Heather H."
