For the PROSAFE forum, AKT was proud to provide high-quality interpreters. The “Food Safety for Market Access: Enhancing Foreign Demand for Vietnamese Agri-Food” topic was held as part of the PROSAFE project to identify and consolidate opportunities to scale up the agri-food sector and expand access to foreign markets.
Small and medium businesses account for more than 90% of the agri-food sector in Vietnam. Despite their importance for economic growth, they are technologically, financially, and human resource-wise limited in their ability to access foreign markets.
COVID-19 has also caused a disruption in the supply of agri-food products. As a result, agri-food businesses must rethink their strategies and improve their understanding of non-tariff measures (NTMs) and the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Standards (SPS) in order to gain access to the international market.
The forum was a hybrid event that took place both in person and online. Speakers from the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency, the MARD Agro-Processing and Market Development Authority, as well as 30 businesses from Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces like Ben Tre, Dong Thap, and Tien Giang, were in attendance.
