The conference "Climate Change and Public Health: Addressing Dengue and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs)" organized by AVPN in collaboration with AmCham Vietnam, attracted attention from experts and stakeholders alike.
The event commenced with a context-setting presentation by the AVPN Health Platform, accompanied by the screening of a mini-documentary titled "Slowing the Spread of Dengue Fever". This was followed by an insightful presentation on dengue epidemiology by Dr. Luong Chan Quang, Head of the Department for Disease Control and Prevention at the Pasteur Institute, providing a comprehensive overview of the current situation and future trends. Dr. Bach Thi Chinh, Medical Director of Vietnam Vaccine Center (VNVC), delivered a presentation on commercial solutions for dengue control and prevention. The highlight of the conference was a 60-minute roundtable discussion moderated by Mr. Tham Chi Dung, Vaccine and Immunization Team Lead at PATH Vietnam. This discussion brought forth multifaceted perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in addressing dengue and NTDs in the context of climate change. Ms. Dini Indrawati Septiani, Regional Director for Southeast Asia at AVPN, also shared insights on the role of social investments in piloting and scaling solutions for mitigation and prevention.
