Interpreters At Vietnam-India Film Cooperation Seminar

The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, who emphasized the importance of strengthening cultural ties through cinema. Captain Rahul Bali, Curator of the Namaste Vietnam Festival and Producer of "Love in Vietnam," shared their insights on the potential for collaboration between the two film industries.

The first panel discussion, moderated by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Rahat Shah Kazmi, focused on "Film Production Cooperation between India and Vietnam." Speakers included Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Captain Rahul Bali, Indian actress Avika Gor, Mr. Umesh Bansal from Zee Entertainment, Vietnamese director and producer Vo Thanh Hoa, and renowned filmmaker Tuong Vi. They discussed government policies to facilitate collaboration, historical connections and potential for revival, challenges faced by Vietnamese filmmakers working with foreign partners, and untapped opportunities in Indo-Vietnamese film cooperation. Other aspects such as cultural and professional differences between the two film industries, audience preferences in both countries, and investment attraction factors were also addressed.The second panel, moderated by Captain Rahul Bali, explored the "Impact of Cinema on the Overall Growth and Development of Nations." Panelists included Mr. James Son, CEO of BHD Cinemas, filmmakers Rahat Shah Kazmi and Sarvesh Goel, along with Ms. Nguyen Tran, Board Member of Samten Hills and Co-producer of "Love in Vietnam."

The discussion touched upon requirements for international films, especially Indian, to be distributed in Vietnam, factors considered when collaborating with international partners for film distribution, and the potential for test screenings of Indian films in Vietnam and vice versa. They also discussed Vietnam's potential as a filming location for international productions, the benefits of Vietnam's appearance in international cinema, and cinema's influence on social and economic development.

The final panel discussion centered on "International Distribution: Local Films, Global Reach," featuring Mr. Dhruv Sinha, International Distribution Head of Reliance Entertainment, Mr. Umesh Bansal from Zee Entertainment, representative from Mockingbird Pictures, renowned Indian filmmaker Zeba Sajid, and popular Indian actress Anupriya Goenka. They discussed strategies for Vietnamese films to attract attention in global markets, current policies and regulations supporting international film distribution, challenges in adapting local films for international audiences, genres and themes that resonate across borders, and lessons from successful international releases like Korean films.The seminar featured the launch and announcements of upcoming Indian film projects in Vietnam, opening new avenues for collaboration between filmmakers from both countries.
