Translating at the Conference on Investment promotion during COVID-19

To promote an investment climate favorable to foreign investment and to implement policies aimed at mitigating risks for foreign investors in the context of Covid-19, the Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC) organized this conference in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center (ITPC), the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Investment, the Vietnam International Business Lawyers Club, and foreign business organizations in Vietnam.

AKT was privileged to provide remote translation services for this significant event, held as a forum for regulators and business associations to address issues confronting businesses during COVID-19.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Investment (DPI) provided context by outlining investment activities, as well as highlighting some opportunities and challenges for foreign businesses. Despite cost advantages, favorable support policies, and simplified procedures, numerous companies with a high proportion of foreign ownership faced numerous obstacles related to supply chain disruption and temporary business suspension. According to AmCham, EuroCham, and the Singapore Business Group (all of which are well-known to the AKT English Vietnamese translators), a significant percentage of businesses will fail to recover if existing problems are not addressed.
